Hibiscus Flower, Hawaii


The beautiful Hibiscus flower tastes very similar to cranberry juice when served unsweetened. When sweetened it tastes like fruit punch.

This is one of my favorite beverages on a hot day. It is inexpensive, quick to make and a much healthier alternative to most soft drinks.


Ingredients: dried hibiscus flowers, water, and sweetener of your choice

How to make Jamaica:

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, remove from heat
  • Add 2 cups of hibiscus flowers to the water, let steep for an hour
  • Strain the liquid, pour into a one gallon pitcher. Press on the hibiscus flowers firmly to release all of the flavor
  • Top off the pitcher with cold water
  • Add sweetness to taste.
