Noni

"Noni Leaf" Kauai, HI

The noni fruit to many is bland and has an unpleasant smell. It is most often consumed as a fruit juice, although parts of the fruit, such as the leaves and the pulp, are also known to have healing benefits. On the islands the entire tree of the Noni plant is used including the stems, bark, leaves flowers and roots.

Health Benefits: Rich in Antioxidants, Contains
Anti Inflammatory and Anti Cancer Properties, Boost Immunity, Moderates Stress levels, Improves Digestion, Naturally Increases Energy, and Prevents Liver Damage.

I prefer to use noni in a powder or tea form opposed to the juice most commonly seen in many health food stores. Both the tea and powder are sold on site listed below as well as more information on the benefits of noni.

flor de Jamaica

Hibiscus Flower, Hawaii

The beautiful Hibiscus flower tastes very similar to cranberry juice when served unsweetened. When sweetened it tastes like fruit punch.

Health Benefits: Lowers Blood Pressure, Boosts Immune System, Reduces Cholesterol, and Guards Against Cellular Damage

This is one of my favorite beverages on a hot day. It is inexpensive, quick to make and a much healthier alternative to most soft drinks.

Ingredients: dried hibiscus flowers, water, and sweetener of your choice

If I may suggest use Agave Nectar as your sweet
...

How to make Jamaica:

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, remove from heat
  • Add 2 cups of hibiscus flowers to the water, let steep for an hour
  • Strain the liquid, pour into a one gallon pitcher. Press on the hibiscus flowers firmly to release all of the flavor
  • Top off the pitcher with cold water
  • Add sweetness to taste.
